JHawk Eclipse Plugin Manual -
Exporting Data

There are three export formats available -

These are available on the last two tabs of the JHawk Metrics panel. The CSV option has a tab of its own and the HTML and XML options are shared on one tab. A number of features are shared by these two tabs. At the top of each of the tabs are two tables side by side which allow you to select the pacakages and classes whose details are to be exported. If you select one or more packages only the classes included in those packages will be shown in the classes window. You can select multiple items from the class list.

Underneath the tables are a number of selection options that will decide how your data is formatted -

  • Generate details for... allows you to select what will be analysed - the packages selected, the classes selected or the entire system
  • Generate Details for each... allows you to select the level of detail to be exported. This will export full (rather than summary) detail for each level. It equates to the level of detail in the various panels that are connected to the package, class and method tables.
  • Select Sort field for ... allows you to select the field that will be used to sort the order in which the elements will be exported.
  • Select column list to use ... allows you to choose either the active column list (which you have created using the preferences) or the full column list

The CSV tab
In addition to the common features outlined above the CSV tab also allows you to choose whether each CSV line will include the System, Package or Class name (if appropriate to the line being exported). Lastly it asks you to provide the name of the file to which the data will be exported. When you are ready to export the data click the 'Save CSV' button.

The HTML/XML tab
In addition to the common features outlined above the HTML/XML panel asks you to provide the name of the file to which the data will be exported. When you are ready to export the data click either the 'Save XML' or 'Save HTML' button depending on the export format that you want.
