BTree Demo EJB on J2EE

It seems that BTrees are percieved as a forgotten technology, relegated to computing courses as an interesting aside. They have been widely used as the underlying data storage mechanism in relational databases and are found in operating environments such as Novell and languages such as MUMPS. Fashion and the wider choice of database solutions may apparently have passed them by but they are still a powerful tool in the professional programmers armoury - they have a significant role in the Application Server space as this demo will show.

You can find out more about our BTree implementation on the BTree FAQ page. We also have some BTree programming tips and tricks listed here which will show you how to make the most efficient use of BTrees in your application. We always welcome feedback on our product and demos - please feel free to contact us using the link at the bottom of the page.

So that you can see just how valuable BTree could be to you in a J2EE environment we have created a demo EJB application based on the BTree product. This demo allows you to use a BTree as a highly efficient, small footprint data storage method on an application Server. The code is designed to run on Suns J2EE Reference platform but should be deployable on any J2EE compliant server. It can use BTrees created by our free BTree demonstration trial (Available here) and is therefore capable of accessing millions of BTree records. Full documentation is provided as part of the download and is also available here. We know you'll be impressed! We offer two versions of the demo - a self extracting zip file for Windows based systems and a tar.gz file for Linux and other systems. Click on the appropriate link to download the files -

For the zip file click here and choose 'Save target As..' (149Kb)

For the Linux (and others) tar.gz file click here and choose 'Save target As..' (140Kb)

Any late breaking news, bugs, known restrictions etc. will be listed on the BTree FAQ page
